Sexy Accents

I’ve had a little bit of feedback about how to open these entries, but I’d like more! Sexy anecdote, pciture or video that I like, what? Let me know in the comments below! In the meantime, here’s an old question from an anonymous fan:

Can a guy turn you on by what he says? What I mean is, do accents turn you on?

When I read the first part of that question, “can a guy turn you on by what he says,” my immediate answer was: Of course! Words can be incredibly seductive!

With the clarification about accents, my immediate answer is: Of course! Again, words can be incredibly seductive, and the way they’re said can make a hell of a difference! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t find certain accents sexy. It’s amazing sometimes how different people will have very different ideas of what’s sexy. Sometimes the difference is pretty clearly along gender lines or other broad strokes. For example, I know a lot of guys who really like French accents, but not many girls.

So, the obvious follow up question here is: Which accents do I find most sexy and seductive? I don’t know that I can really explain why a certain accent appeals, so I’m just going to list them here, starting with the one that pretty much makes me instantly wet, and working down:

  • Spanish (not Mexican)
  • Russian
  • Irish
  • Scottish
  • Italian
  • German
  • some African (Sorry I’m so vague on this one. I know there are plenty of African accents, but I don’t know names of any.)
  • English
  • Australian

Thinking about this more, I realize that I’m attracted to different accents depending on whether the speaker is male or female. Above is my list for guys; below is my list for girls:

  • Russian
  • Irish
  • American Southern
  • Italian
  • French
  • Spanish
  • German
  • Australian
  • English
  • Japanese

Hopefully it’s not a surprise that these lists aren’t set in stone. Individual speakers can raise or lower their accent on the list, usually based on their intelligence — someone who speaks eloquently will always be preferred. A particular voice sometimes enhances the appeal of an accent, or it could sound awful. For example, I can’t even really imagine someone with a deep bass voice with an Irish accent. It just doesn’t compute for me.

So, what accents turn you on? (What accents should I be practicing?)
